Glass is such a popular medium right now, probably thanks to Dale Chihuly. This was the Heard's blockbuster show for the year and it really was spectacular. This is Preston Singletary's first mid-career survey of his work.
"For nearly two decades, Preston Singletary has straddled two cultures—melding his Tlingit ancestry with the dynamism of the Studio Glass Movement—and in the process creating an extraordinarily distinctive and powerful body of work. Drawing from traditional Tlingit art, Singletary has translated the visual vocabulary of patterns, narratives, and systems most closely associated with Native woodcarving and painted art into glass, a material historically associated with Native peoples through an extensive network of trading routes."

I was to design the casework, assist the curators in selecting objects, layout the objects, select a color pallet, design the lighting, work with the graphic designers, work with the mount makers, have the gallery furniture fabricated, and install the objects in the cases with the curators and registrars.
